Moon Patrol (Arcade) is the Retro Game of the Day for 5 July, 2016

The arcade game love fest continues!

This is going to be a quick one because I have a lot going on today.  Moon Patrol features a big, heavy moon rover driving across the surface of the Moon, avoiding rocks, holes, mines, alien attacks from above, and other fun obstacles that prevents the poor guy simply wanting to drive from one point to another.  Why won’t you leave this guy alone, Moon?  What do you have against him?  You get to shoot both upwards and a bit ahead of you to destroy rocks and enemy aliens, and jump to avoid holes and other small obstacles.  And… well, that’s pretty much it.  But it’s typically fun despite its simplicity, which is why old games are so good.  But if you’ve been reading this blog (you have been reading this blog, right?  Right?), you knew that.

MAME plays the game perfectly.  Go give it a try.
